Commonly referred to as Ypsi, the city of Ypsilanti is located in Washtenaw County, Michigan. Ypsilanti is situated just 6 miles east of Ann Arbor and has an estimated population of 19,435. In its early history, a permanent settlement was established on the east side of the Huron River, and a short distance away on the west side of the river was established in 1825 under the name “Ypsilanti.” Today, Ypsilanti is bounded to the north by Superior Township and is best known to be home for East Michigan University.
